I had considerably grown up, particularly as a christian, since those first days in Egypt. I had even been involved, in the year before moving to Georgia, with an intentional urban community in Harrisonbug, VA. Rebecca was my personal connection to Jubilee, but it was also my new curiosity to learn more about the politics of Christ that ultimately landed me in that volunteer term.
I wanted to experience what it meant to practically live out the unconventional instructions that Jesus preached to his disciples. I knew his homeland like the back of my hand, as I had called it my own home too, but it was at Jubilee where I began to dig deep and tear into what his words really meant. It was a place where I was challenged to look at myself and analyze how my life moves with the Greater Story.
